The IOA is supporting a team of researchers at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada for a COVID-19 related study. The project is for a wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) approach that involves investigating whether wastewater testing for coronavirus signatures can be leveraged as an early detection biomarker to assess community spread of the disease. The study is to assess the variation in the virus loads throughout the treatment train and how different disinfectants, such as ozone, can potentially inactivate these pathogens, and the implications to surface water, if any.
The IOA will participate in the Project Advisory Committee to maintain knowledge of the project and to provide expertise to assist in the success of this important project. Click HERE for more details.
